The WFME accreditation process in Latvia has been delayed due to negotiations between the Latvian Ministry of Education and Science and the chosen accreditation agency (AHPGS Akkreditierung gGmbH from Germany). However, significant progress was made last week with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, officially recognizing the agency for WFME accreditation in Latvia.
The agency now needs WFME approval, which is expected to take eight weeks. After that, the University can officially sign an agreement and proceed with accreditation.
The accreditation process itself will take approximately 12 months after the Self-evaluation report is submitted. As a result, WFME accreditation is expected no earlier than 2026.
Regarding ECFMG Certification eligibility, the latest procedures and requirements for 2025 have changed. However, no definitive answer can be provided at this time.
